Welcome! You’ve found us. Yes, I finally moved Knit-a-While. I’m not going to delete the old site, at least for a while. I tried to move the posts to this address but couldn’t get it to work. So, the older posts will stay there, but this is where you want to be.
Now, you might think that the blog design is odd for what is primarily a knitting blog. And it is. But I like water and fog. Besides, I couldn’t find another WP theme I liked that offered what I wanted.
A Blogiversary
On this day in 2005, Knit-a-While was born. At times, posts have been spotty, but I hope to blog more consistently. This is one of my goals for 2009. In celebration of our blogiversary, we’re going to have a contest. Post a comment to this blog, and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win Barbara Bretton’s Casting Spells. I will randomly select a winner from those who have commented to this post by Wednesday, April 8. Laced with Magic, a sequel to Casting Spells, comes out on August 4. This gives you plenty of time to introduce yourself to Chloe, Luke, and the other residents of Sugar Maple, Vermont, and visitors to Sticks & Strings, Chloe’s yarn shop.
To post a comment, click on Comments under this post title, or click on the post title. Both will take you to the comment section.

The Bloggary
We’re starting a new year with a new address, so why not start a new feature? No reason not to, so we are. It’s called The Bloggary. I don’t know about you, but to me, it seems as though there are more fiber-related blogs every day. As they come to my attention, I’ll be mentioning them here. The first blog is really not new, but I’ve heard some people say they’ve never heard of it. It’s called Lime & Violet Daily Chum. There you’ll find information about spinning, fiber, knitting, yarn, what’s hot, and what’s weird. And those are just a few of the things. In the interest of full disclosure, I seek out and write about the Etsy Site of the Day and the Spinning column.
If there’s a site you’d like to suggest I take a look at, please send an e-mail to ida@knit-a-while.com.
Did You Know?
That you could become part of a treasury? Most knitters are familiar with Barbara Walker’s treasuries. And most of those have probably been frustrated at one time or another because the images are in black and white. Well, the Walker Treasury Project can take care of that. Knitters sign up to knit one of the pattern swatches, submit a photo, and it is uploaded for all to see. There are still swatches available, so check it out.
That’s all for now. Check back often. And don’t forget to enter the contest for Barbara Bretton’s Casting Spells.
