We are having our first real snow today. It’s been snowing almost all day, but it’s really not accumulating except on the trees and grass. That’s fine with me. It is very pretty outside.
Goodies in the Mail
Many, many months ago, I bought a share from Martha’s Vineyard Fiber Farm’s (it’s now Juniper Moon Farm) spring shearing. Several weeks ago, they started being mailed. I must admit I was getting very impatient waiting for mine, especially when I read that people outside the United States and many places in the country had already received theirs. Well, I finally got mine.

The peacock-colored yarn is a fine wool/kid mohair blend in light worsted weight. The undyed yarn is Cormo and a medium-weight worsted. I don’t know why I ordered since there’s mohair; I’m not a big fan of mohair. This is scratchy, but not as scratchy as other mohair I’ve had. Included were instructions on how to soften it if you’re bothered by mohair. It’s awfully pretty, but I’m clueless about what I want to make.
Something Finished–and Something Started!
I finished my gaiter, which I was knitting for the troops. I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in the Maple Syrup colorway.

This is an up close and personal picture of the pattern. The color is more true in this picture. In both cases, keep in mind that these are horizontal images; the pattern runs vertically.
And, I’ve started a new project: a mobius scarf. This is my first one. I can’t believe how much trouble I had getting it started. Maybe it’s because we’ve always been told to make sure that our work isn’t twisted when joining in the round. I’m not sure about this pattern. When I decide, I’ll post a picture and link. I must admit that I’m loving the yarn. I’m using Knit Picks’ City Tweed DK.
We Have a Winner
No, I’ve not forgotten. A winner has been selected for the Lily Chin books. Thank you to everyone who entered.
The Random Number Generator was consulted, and the winner is KATE. Kate, I couldn’t find an e-mail address, so I posted to your blog.
Again, thanks to everyone who entered. Stay tuned: there will be more contests.
